The Douglas DC-7 is an American four-engine airliner built between 1953 and 1958. The DC-7C version is one of the very first airliners to be able to cross the North Atlantic non-stop. The origin of the DC-7 is due to a request by American Airlines. Its president C.R Smith wanted a larger aircraft with better range than the DC-6. He guaranteed a major order from Douglas. In addition, sales of the DC-6 stagnating because of the Constellation, Douglas accepted this project. If the basic design remains the same, the DC-7 carries 30% more passengers over longer distances than its predecessor.

This version of Roden's DC-7C comes with classic KLM company markings.
