Description

The term macaw refers to a large family of parrots with shimmering, colorful plumage ranging from blue to green to red. Members of this large family have long tails and powerful beaks, and like many other parrots have the ability to imitate human speech. They are now endangered, as they are much sought-after for resale on the pet market, and live mainly in captivity.
